Oh, Ubisoft, can you please just stop teasing us with Splinter Cell and actually release something? Yes, Ubisoft are once again teasing something Splinter Cell related, this time ahead of Summer GameFest. Could it be the long-awaited remake?
Said remake was announced waaaaaaay back in 2021. Since then, Ubisoft has remained largely silent on the project, emulating the stealth the franchise is known for. The only thing we really know is that’s being developed by Ubisoft Toronto.
Now, Ubisoft seems to be teasing something Splinter Cell related as the main Ubisoft account on X has randomly tweeted out an image of Sam Fisher, the man behind the iconic green goggles. To me, it looks a lot like Sam from the original Splinter Cell but in much higher resolution, although still with a PS2 vible.

Unsurprisingly, this has set tongues wagging, especially from hardcore Splinter Cell fans who have been down this road before. Ubisoft has teased Splinter Cell news before only for it to be something disappointing rather than a new game or news on the remake.
However, there is some other news which suggests Ubisoft might actually be properly revealing the remake soon. Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming quote tweeted Ubisoft’s image, and said that “The remake looks genuinely impressive from what I’ve seen. I hope we hear about it sooner rather than later!”
So we know Tom Henderson has seen the game. Hopefully that means it hasn’t been quietly cancelled amidst Ubisoft’s current turmoil which has seen the company enact a plan to create a new spin-off company in charge of its biggest IP. Around 5 months ago now, Tom Henderson also penned an article saying that Ubisoft was planning on releasing a few big games by the end of 2026, including the Splinter Cell Remake.
With Summer GameFest happening in just a few weeks, will be finally see Sam sneak back onto our gaming machines? God, I hope so.
