A decade after releasing, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is getting one last patch and it’s a doozy: cross-platform mod support. That’s right, consoles will get official access to mods for the first time.
The announcement came via the official Witcher website where the team confirmed that later this year the game will receive one final patch.
“Later this year, we will release one more patch for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. This update will introduce cross-platform mod support across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S via mod.io,” says the post. “Creating, sharing, and enjoying mods will be easier and more accessible, as players on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S will be able to share a modding ecosystem.”
Downloading mods on console will be absolutely free – all you will need is a CD Projekt Red account and a mod.io account.
Exactly how this will work hasn’t been confirmed yet. CD Projekt Red say they will release further details at a later date.
It was also recently announced that The Witcher 3 has surpassed 60 million copies sold.
