Sony Excludes Popular PS5 Accessory from Days of Play Sale

The PlayStation Days of Play sales promotion brings solid discounts to PS5 consoles, accessories, services, and games between now and June 11. However, one of Sony’s most popular gaming accessories is mysteriously excluded from the recently listed deals.

The popular PS5 game streaming handheld device, the PlayStation Portal, is not on sale as part of the State of Play sales promotion. Considering other accessories, like the PS VR2, Pulse Explore wireless earbuds, and DualSense Edge wireless controllers, are discounted during the sales period, it seems like an odd one to leave out.

While it is a bummer that Sony isn’t discounting its popular handheld device, it is probably due to the company not wanting to miss out on profit from the device. In the company’s Corporate Strategy & Earnings Announcement Presentation for this year, it stated it would focus on peripherals that were “strong” and “profitable” like the PS Portal.

“We also plan to focus on strong and profitable peripherals such as PlayStation Portal where our recently introduced beta cloud streaming feature allows users to enjoy their games on the go more easily,” reads Sony’s statement.

Although the PS Portal isn’t on sale, there are tons of good deals, including PS5 console bundles that can save gamers up to $119.99. The PS5 Pro is also on sale for $50 off too. For current PS5 players, there are always deals on games on the PS Store. Despite the exclusion of a PS Portal sale, there are plenty of ways for gamers to save some cash.

Were you hoping the PS Portal would go on sale during the Days of Play promotion? Are you excited for Sony to potentially explore the handheld market once again? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
