Occult Crescent, the new field operation added to FFXIV: Dawntrail in patch 7.25 has many secrets. Among them are the hidden rewards that you can only find with the help of a Persistent Pot, a devilish little creature you might end up finding while looking for survey points or farming FATEs for the Phantom relic weapon. But if you know how to use them, these creatures can show you the way to great rewards invisible even to the Warrior of Light.
These work very similarly to the bunnies in Eureka, so if you remember doing those, you’re already in a good place.
Below, we break down how the Persistent Pot mission works and how to find the Persistent Pot chest in FFXIV: Dawntrail.
How to get a Persistent Pot in the Occult Crescent
To unlock the Persistent Pot, you must first complete the “Persistent Pot” or the “Pleading Pot” FATEs that appear in the Occult Crescent field operation in the locations below:
You can identify these two FATEs by their unique blue icons. While they have the blue evil face of a critical encounter, their ornate borders set them apart. They don’t follow the same rules as the critical encounters, since you can enter and participate after having started.
The fight in itself is not complicated, so you won’t need multiple tries to have a chance to get a Persistent Pot. You must, however, complete the FATE, in other words, kill all the enemies within the time limit.
Your performance during the fight does not affect the chances of the creature appearing. Win the FATE and you will have the little creature following you around.
How to find the Persistent Pot chest in FFXIV
A message appears after the FATE ends saying that if you follow the pot, you can find a chest. Once the Persistent Pot companion is following you, it’s time to look for the promised treasure.
To find the treasure, you need to use the Magical Elixir – you can either add it to your hotbar from the key items bag or click on its icon under the Occult Crescent’s time on the top right side of the screen. This item will indicate which direction you must head to. It is not going to give you an exact location, but instead, you will see messages saying how far you’re from the treasure.
As you follow the Persistent Pot’s instructions, you must not participate in another FATE, die, or leave the Occult Crescent. Doing any of these things results in the pot disappearing, meaning you have to wait for another one of the pot FATEs to start the mission again.
Stay safe and follow their instructions. When you get to the exact location and use the elixir, the chest will appear. They can be a bronze, silver, or gold coffer. After finding the chest, there is a chance that another pot will show up, leading you to an additional coffer.
We still have yet to determine if there are any conditions determining the tier of the coffer you find or the number of coffers a pot might show you.
Persistent Pot treasure chest rewards
We imagine that these coffers might offer better prizes, but these are the ones we can confirm as of this writing. We’ll update this guide with more notable rewards as we find them.
Here’s a list of all Persistent Pot treasure chest rewards we’ve received so far:
- Ballroom Etiquette: Fashion Forward (the twirl emote)
- Magicked Prisms (ribbons)
- Various battle materia
- Gil of varying amounts (depending on which type of chest you get)
Some players have reported that the loot pool seems like a combination of previous rewards from Bozja and Eureka with some new stuff thrown in, though we haven’t been able to confirm this.
