Elden Ring Is Getting a Live-Action Film Adaptation

It might sound like a fantasy, but it’s real; Bandai Namco has officially announced a live-action film adaptation of Elden Ring.

Per Deadline, the ambitious project is being developed in collaboration with acclaimed film studio A24 and will be written and directed by Alex Garland, best known for Ex Machina, Annihilation, and most recently, Civil War. The film is being produced by Peter Rice, alongside Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich from DNA Films. Notably, George R. R. Martin, who created the lore and mythology for Elden Ring, and Vince Gerardis are also on board as producers.

Since its debut in February 2022, Elden Ring has sold over 30 million copies worldwide. While turning its vast, dark fantasy world into a live-action film may seem difficult to imagine, keep in mind that Minecraft and even Pac-Man made the jump to the big screen. The game is known for its sweeping landscapes, treacherous dungeons, and intense combat encounters, all of which could make for an epic cinematic experience.

And the Elden Ring universe is far from quiet. In the gaming world, fans won’t have to wait long for more content as Elden Ring: Nightreign, a co-op spin-off introducing new characters, enemies, and gameplay mechanics, launches on May 30.
