Circus SE, a developer of robotics for the food service industry, last week said it acquired agentic AI company FullyAI. The company said this marks a major milestone in its mission to build a unified intelligence layer across its robotics and software.

“FullyAI further advances our autonomous systems and software into a true intelligent ecosystem: one that oversees, learns, and predicts,” stated Nikolas Bullwinkel, founder and CEO of Circus SE. “With this acquisition, we are laying the groundwork for a global nutrition intelligence layer — comparable to what Tesla has built in autonomous driving or Meta in social data — leveraging every data point to better understand complex nutrition patterns.”

“With the acquisition of Fully, we are also expanding our growing stack of proprietary IP [intellectual property] in the field of global nutrition autonomy for humans,” he added.

Hamburg, Germany-based Circus SE said it provides autonomous systems and software for the labor-intensive food service sector. It said its CA-1 robot applies embodied AI, integrating artificial intelligence into real-world operations and redefining human-AI collaboration. The company has been growing its international presence.

FullyAI to be ‘cognitive engine’ for CA-1

FullyAI said it enables real-time operational decision-making, predictive maintenance, and personalized user experiences. The unit‘s software will process billions of data points from the CA-1 autonomous cooking robots to unlock a self-improving intelligence layer that connects every process in real time, according to Circus SE.

The company declared that FullyAI will become the cognitive engine of its ecosystem — starting with a fully integrated, AI-powered, voice-ordering terminal. It will expand into autonomous optimization and personalized user experiences across the Circus software and robotics ecosystem.

Integrated with data at scale from the proprietary CA-1 meal supply robots, FullyAI’s intelligence layer understands context, demand, and behavioral patterns through multiple owned data streams, said Circus SE. This includes inventory and procurement systems, customer profiling, and real-time robot operations.

FullyAI’s cognitive engine will transform data streams into actionable insights, which Circus SE claimed will form the foundation for world’s first global nutrition intelligence network. The company said the CircusOS operational layer and CA-1 physical AI/robotics layer will allow its systems to anticipate demand, adapt dynamically, and scale precision nutrition worldwide.

Circus SE adds to leadership team

As part of the acquisition, the FullyAI engineering team and management has joined Circus SE. Niklas von Weihe, previously working closely with Meta’s advanced AI teams, joins as director of AI.

Minh Dao, former CEO of a leading growth and brand consultancy with clients such Tesla, Google, and McDonald’s, has joined as vice president of growth, overseeing new product verticals and brand-scale initiatives.

The transaction was completed on the terms defined in the ad hoc announcement dated Jan. 12, 2025, including the issuance of 400,000 new shares with a 36-month lock-up period. Circus SE said it expects to complete the next steps required under company law to implement the acquisition by the end of June.
